Parallel Coordinate gragh

This is an example of a parallel coordinate graph. This example was found at http://servus.itn.liu.se/projects/geowizard/images/sheetpcb.png. It shows trends in data that can be applied to large quantities of information. Th Parallel coordinate graph is the lower half of the picture and shows the relationship between employees, tax rates, mean income, population mean, and capitol assets.

DEM (Digital Elevation Model)

This DEM map is of the Dry Tortugas National Park in the Florida Keys. It shows the elevation of the keys, with the red color being the highest. This type of map, created by using LIDAR technology, is also useful in finding underwater, or submerged, topography.

Histogram

Histograms are used to show variation in data. This histogram is showing how long it takes to recieve a contraceptive order. You can clearly see that most orders take about 4 weeks, however some orders come in as little as one while others take up to six.

Box plot

This is a box plot, box plots are used to quickly show the median and the quartiles of a set of data. In the example the median is between 60 and 80 and is approximately 75. Box plots can also be used to quickly calculate the inter-quartile range and to find any outliers (or discrepancies in the numbers).

Stem and Leaf Plot

This is a stem and leaf plot. It's purpose is to organize a set of numbers, as you can see from the example the numbers are in order from least to greatest. That is what stem and leaf plots do, order numbers from least value to greatest.

Similarity Matrix

Similarity Matrices are used to show the likeness between two or more things. For example in this case genes are being compared. The red signifies the most similarities and the blue the least.

correlation matrix

A correlation matrix is used to find a correlation or relationship among a set of data. This particular matrix is for the protein correlation of phage T7.
